Bringing Pride to the Beach

We are an organisation dedicated to promoting inclusion, diversity, and visibility of LGBTQ+ members within the Australian surf lifesaving community. We work to help surf clubs foster an environment which is welcoming and supportive for all, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. Through education, advocacy, and participation in major events such as the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, Lifesavers with Pride fosters a culture of acceptance and celebrates the contributions of LGBTQIA+ lifesavers.

LWP supports SLSA through membership and participation, as part of the ‘mission’ pillar of SLSA

Meet the Committee

  • Chair

I’ve been part of surf lifesaving since I was six years old, starting as a nipper at Cronulla, and now patrol at North Bondi. I joined Lifesavers with Pride in 2016 and have been on the committee for six years.

As Chair, I’m committed to making surf lifesaving a visibly welcoming and inclusive space for all. I’m excited to grow our presence on beaches across Australia and strengthen our connections with local clubs. The ocean doesn’t discriminate, and neither should we.

Off the sand, I work as an educational consultant and advisor to the NSW government. I have a PhD in education and can talk about maths all day—so consider yourself warned!

  • Treasurer

I joined surf lifesaving in 2020 at Bondi, looking to take my love for the ocean to the next level and give back to the community. Since then, I’ve had an incredible time participating in LWP events and wanted to get more involved in shaping the future of inclusion in Surf Life Saving Australia.

As a committee member, I’m keen to expand our reach with clubs across the country, grow membership, and support a vibrant calendar of events.

By day, I’m a corporate innovation and entrepreneurship specialist, helping teams embrace change and build for the future. I hope to bring those skills to LWP as we continue to push for progress in surf lifesaving.

  • Secretary

Originally from the UK, I moved to Australia in 2017 and joined Surf Life Saving a few years later. I’m now a proud member of Palm Beach Surf Club and love how lifesaving has given me both a deeper connection to the ocean and a strong sense of community.

Being part of the Lifesavers with Pride committee is an incredible opportunity to grow the diversity and engagement that makes this group so special. I’m excited to help expand our reach and visibility across the country.

Beyond lifesaving, I work at Qantas’ head office—I’m all about iconic Aussie brands!

  • Operational Strategy

With a background in marketing and advertising, I’ve spent years creating strategies that connect brands with their audiences in meaningful ways. Now on a work sabbatical, I’m focused on giving back to the community—whether that’s through marine conservation, animal welfare, or LGBTQIA+ advocacy.

As a proud patrol member and First Aid Officer at North Wollongong Surf Life Saving Club, I love keeping our beaches safe and being part of an amazing team. I’m excited to use my skills to help Lifesavers with Pride continue driving real change in surf lifesaving.

Outside of the surf, you’ll find me on the jiujitsu mats as part of the global LGBTQIA+ grappling group, Triangles Everywhere—where I get to combine discipline, challenge, and community all in one.
