Australian Pride Festivals

Pride Festivals are vibrant celebrations of diversity, bringing together LGBTQIA+ communities, allies, and local organisations to promote inclusion and visibility. These events feature community stalls, live performances, and opportunities to connect with groups that champion equality and representation. Pride Festivals highlight the importance of acceptance, unity, and pride in our communities.

Lifesavers with Pride proudly participates in Pride Festivals across Australia to:

  • Recruit more surf life savers and encourage people of all backgrounds to join their local surf club.

  • Raise awareness of our mission and showcase the contributions of LGBTQIA+ lifesavers within surf clubs nationwide.

By attending Pride Festivals, we help foster a sense of belonging and ensure that surf life saving remains an inclusive space for everyone. Look out for our stall, have a chat with our friendly team, and learn how you can get involved. We can’t wait to meet you at your local Pride Festival!

Get involved!

We encourage all surf lifesavers to volunteer during Pride Festivals and help make these events a success. There are many ways you can contribute, including:

  • Selling merchandise to help raise awareness and funds for Lifesavers with Pride.

  • Engaging with attendees, sharing your experiences, and encouraging new members to join their local surf club.

  • Setting up and packing down the tent and stall area.

  • Providing general support throughout the day to ensure our presence is impactful and welcoming.

We were the Runner Up for Best Sports Stall at Sydney Mardi Gras Fair Day 2025 and volunteering at Pride Festivals is a fantastic opportunity to connect with the community, promote inclusion in surf life saving, and make a real difference.
