From the Sydney Fair Day, to positive media coverage leading up to parade day, Lifesavers with Pride are showcasing themselves as leaders in diversity and inclusion across the entire LGBTQIA+ community.

Recognition of Lifesavers with Pride and Surf Lifesaving Australia’s events across Summer 2024/2025 to encourage more people in the LGBTQIA+ community to join surf lifesaving. Awarded $4350 as the work of LWP aligned with Pride in Sport’s mission to create safe and inclusive environments for people with diverse sexualities and genders.

Hidden Legend Awards: Ivan is a Gold Medallion holder and experienced patroler at Bronte Surf Club. Ivan developed the "Rainbow Beaches" initiative and worked with 'Lifesavers with Pride' and Surf Life Saving colleagues to bring this to clubs across Australia. Rainbow Beaches celebrates all forms of diversity in our clubs & communities with a theme that "everyone is welcome at the beach", using rainbow colours to activate patrols, beach equipment, Nippers and related community events.

Hidden Legend Award: Dion wanted to tell everyone that Surf Life Saving is proud, safe and welcoming and that people can come as they are on the beach ... so he decided to design Pride Surf Rescue Boards to be dispatched on beaches all over Australia! Surf Clubs across the country were so excited about this opportunity that over 120 boards were ordered by 85 clubs across Australia and even all the way to the UK!

Pride in Sport Awards: Attributed to Gary Driscoll, 2020 Chair of Lifesavers with Pride. This award is a recognition from the broader LGBTQIA+ community of the commitment and passion Gary has to accompany the most iconic community and sporting organisations within Australia to being progressive, welcoming and inclusive to the LGBTQIA+ family. As an exemplar out role model, Gary has enabled Lifesavers with Pride to deliver tangible outcomes for the LGBTQIA+ community in Surf Life Saving and surf sport.
